Il design tartan è composto da bande orizzontali e verticali in più colori. I tartan erano originariamente realizzati in lana, ma oggi sono realizzati in molti altri materiali tra cui l'elastico europeo di alta qualità Wiseguy. Il tartan è particolarmente associato alla Scozia a causa dei kilt che quasi sempre hanno motivi tartan. Un po' meno audace di un kilt ma catturerà l'attenzione positiva in quasi ogni occasione!
