How to clean your Leather Suspenders

1. Begin by gently wiping them with a dry cloth to remove any loose dirt or dust. If your Wiseguy Original Leather Suspenders have accompanied you on many adventures, this step might be the most important. Don’t use any water or cleaning products at this point, as this could cause dirt to become embedded in the leather. Avoid using abrasive materials like hard bristled brushes or steel wool, as these can scratch the leather.
2. Use a leather cleaner or mix a small amount of leather/ saddle soap with water. Dip a clean cloth into the solution and wring out any excess liquid. The cloth should be slightly damp, never wet. Using the damp cloth, gently clean the leather suspenders.
3. Don’t use any harsh cleaning products like bleach, as this can damage the leather. Avoid rubbing too hard or using hot water to clean the suspenders. And please never submerge the suspenders in water.
4. After cleaning, wipe or dab the suspenders with a dry cloth to remove any excess moisture. Then, leave them to air dry in a cool, shaded area. Do not use any heat sources like a hair dryer or direct sunlight to dry the suspenders, this could cause the leather to crack.
5. Once the suspenders are completely dry, you can apply a leather conditioner to help keep the leather supple and prevent it from cracking. Always use a very small amount of conditioner. Keep in mind that treating leather with a conditioner can cause the color of the leather to darken. Also, do not use any heat sources to dry the conditioner, as this could cause the leather to crack.

Using an iron or hair dryer can damage the suspenders, so it's best to air dry them.

How to clean your Elastic - Canvas - Denim Suspenders

1. Start by assessing the level of dirt on your suspenders. Remove any loose dirt or debris using a soft-bristled brush.
2. For the nubuck leather parts of the suspenders, use a leather cleaner or a mix of water and leather/ saddle soap to spot clean. Dip a clean cloth in the leather cleaner or leather soap mixture and wring it out until it is just damp. The key word in this whole process is gentle, never scrub or handle your suspenders too harshly as this may damage the material. Carefully rub the cloth over the leather parts of the suspenders to remove any dirt or stains. Be sure to avoid soaking the suspenders in water, as it can warp and damage the leather. Don’t use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners on the leather parts or fabric straps.
3. To clean the fabric straps, prepare a cleaning solution by mixing a small amount of mild detergent with warm water in a bowl. If you’re not sure about the cleaning solution that you’re using, you can do a small patch test on an inconspicuous part of the fabric straps. Dip a clean cloth in the soapy water and wring it out until it's just damp. Use the cloth to gently rub the straps and remove any dirt or stains.
